Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is a research-intensive university that provides a wide range of academic programs in technology and design, and its mission is to advance knowledge and nurture technically-grounded leaders and innovators to serve societal needs. Beginning of 2022, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, SUTD wanted to run an online startup bootcamp to support its students and alumnus’ social entrepreneurship initiative through its Create4Good Innovation Fund.
SUTD Venture and Innovation, Entrepreneurship team wanted to create a startup bootcamp to guide aspiring entrepreneurs with skillsets required to grow their startups. As part of this online bootcamp, teams that go on to form startups will pitch during demo day to receive a grant of $50,000 for their startups.
SUTD VIE team wanted to leverage HackLaunch’s ecosystem of industry experts and entrepreneurs to conduct training for its startups on topics that include Solution ideation and statement, MVP development, Validation, and the Fundamentals of pitching. HackLaunch designed and ran the 2 day startup bootcamp in collaboration with SUTD’s team. Our industry experts and entrepreneurs ran the bootcamp workshops while acting as mentors for all the teams in a hectic and intensive 2-day program.
Over 40 participants went on to form 9 startup teams. The program was highly engaging for both the participants and the mentors. The startup teams were equipped with the necessary skills to take their ideas from concept to implementation while they continued to receive mentorship from HackLaunch’s industry mentors. Five startups eventually graduated from the program and received the $50,000 grant from SUTD. The partnership with SUTD is an extension of HackLaunch’s commitment to innovation.
“HackLaunch has been a partner for SUTD Create4Good hackathon and bootcamp. Their network of industry experts and mentors helped our startups refine and accelerate their progress. We truly enjoy working with HackLaunch and look forward to partnering with them again.”
